VISITOR INFORMATION

The Darling Downs Zoo is open six (6) days a week, closed on Tuesdays only, plus open every day during the Queensland State school holidays and every Queensland public holiday with the exception of Christmas Day.

The zoo opens at 9am. Last admissions are at 3pm. The gates close at 4pm.

DAILY EVENTS include:

10.30am AUSSIE REPTILE DISPLAY

Get up close and personal with Australia's unique reptiles. Our reptile rangers will introduce you to lizards, freshwater turtles, snakes and even a baby crocodile! Learn all about what makes them tick, ask as many questions as you like and even bring along your camera and take a lasting memento of your experience.

11.30am WHITE LION FEEDING 

Watch the keeper feed and interact with our gorgeous, young white lions.  White lions are special & rare, the keeper will tell you all about them.  While we can't have public within their enclosure, we can offer the opportunity to get up close & personal and hand feed the lions (see Animal Encounters page for details & costs).



12pm SAUSAGE SIZZLE

Cooked right before your eyes and tantalising your tastebuds! A standard sausage, sauce and bread Aussie tradition for just $2 per serve with all the proceeds contributing to the welfare of our animals.

1.30pm INTRODUCTION TO SOUTH AMERICAN ANIMALS 

South America home to the world's largest rainforest.  Come meet some of the beautiful birds, mischieviest monkeys & ravenous reptiles that make it their home. 

2pm SNAKE PHOTOS

Your opportunity to have your photo taken with a harmless Australian python at no extra cost. You bring along your camera and we'll supply the python!  If you don't have a camera we can take one for you for just $5 each photo.

On days with predicted additional visitation, extra activities may be provided.

                                         

Zoo facilities include EFTPOS, a kiosk selling pies, sausage rolls, crisps and twisties, ice creams, cold drinks and REAL COFFEE, a souvenir shop, free use of the zoo BBQs if you would prefer to cook your own meat, a shady picnic area, free car parking with ample room for caravans and toilets for the disabled. Feel free to bring your own picnic if you would prefer. The zoo is wheelchair accessible.

In keeping with world's best practice for animals and families, the Darling Downs Zoo is an alcohol and smoke free zone.
