The Darling Downs Zoo's MISSION STATEMENT is:

To promote throughout the Darling Downs and beyond an appreciation of, respect for and concern for the preservation of the planet's biodiversity by the display of a representative and planned collection of animal life in appropriate social groupings and simulated habitats.

The Darling Downs Zoo is Queensland's newest zoo and is situated in a tranquil rural setting on Queensland's beautiful eastern Darling Downs ... about midway between Toowoomba and Warwick.

The zoo is privately owned by Steve and Stephanie Robinson who have devoted their lives to the care of all creatures great and small. Between them they have accumulated well over 50 years of animal keeping experience.

The zoo is divided into four separate geographical areas and features animals from Africa, South America, South-east Asia as well as Australia. Our emphasis is on housing and displaying animals in appropriate social groupings as well as in naturalistically themed habitats. Our goal is to eventually be able to display representatives of the reptile, bird and mammal life of each of these regions of the world. Ultimately we intend that the Darling Downs Zoo will SPECIALISE in the captive husbandry of at least one species from each of the regions.

This zoo will never be the biggest zoo in Australia but we do aim to make it one of the best. We do not receive any assistance from Governments or the Council so we rely very heavily on the support that we get from our visitors, our commercial partners and sponsors and, in particular, our extremely dedicated staff and volunteers.
